We need to promote research culture which will result in more scientific papers and it will also help improve patient care. Healthcare professionals in Pakistan dot lot of work but what they lack is documentation. For conducting research it is extremely important that we must first identify the problem, then design the study, analyze the data and try to find the answer through paper writing. He welcomed the PAME team for holding the workshop on Medical Writing at their premises.
Mr. Shaukat Ali Jawaid highlighted the aims and objectives of PAME which includes promoting the art of scientific publishing. He also briefly talked about the historical back ground of PAME and mentioned about its achievements and accomplishments so far.

Dr. Fatema Jawad Chief Editor of JPMA then made a presentation on how to write the structured abstract and Introduction. Mr. Shaukat Ali Jawaid discussed how to write Methods and Results while Prof. Sina Aziz discussed how to write the Discussion followed by Conclusion and Acknowledgement. Dr. Mohammad Mubeen showed how to write references. The presentations were followed by lively discussion. In the afternoon two abstracts prepared by the participants were discussed. Both the abstracts were discussed in detail and the authors were guided how to shorten them and what important information these abstracts should contain. This Hands On exercise shown to the participants through multimedia was quite effective in conveying the message.
